Eric Erlander

After years of business experience as sales manager for Bell and Howell Company in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska, Erik Erlander left the company to join Melville in the arts. Melville paints in oils and Erlander is a woodcarver. They show their works at the Public Market and can be seen painting and carving Friday and Saturday afternoons.  His wood carvings grace the houses of many locals and peoples from around the world. They are simply stunning and to watch the artist create these wonderful works is a gift. Come see for your self!


Melville Paintings

The artist, Melville, was born in Hoquiam, Washington and raised in the Northwest Melville oil paintings are the result of years of private training, which took into account the distinctive style of Melville painting.
Painting is a life long love of the artist, and in a long professional career, Melville has shown and sold in many prestigious Art Shows including Carmel, Stanford, Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Portland and Great Falls
You can find Melville busily painting away at the market on most Saturdays throughout the year.

Elton Bennet

Elton Bennett serigraphs depict the Pacific Northwest coastal environment and give glimpses of the working lives of the people the artist knew and worked with all his life. These works have steadily gained recognition over the years. Come see many of his amazing works at the public market!

Ellen Pickell is an artist who used her camera as her tool of the trade. She bought her first 35 mm SLR is 1991 with the sole intention of being able to capture the images she saw in her minds eye. Now shooting with  a Nikon 200 digital SLR, her love of our area comes  through in her images of the rain forest, mountains, beaches, birds, wildlife and garden flowers as well as the ranching and logging traditions. She says the greatest compliment is when an image really touches someones else, someone says "This really looks like a painting".
Pickells works has been selected for legisative offices as well as corporate and institutional offices and home collections. Her images have been used by Dateline TV and in maps, tourism brouchures and industrial advertising includig TV.
You can find Pickell's works in the Grays harbor Public Market in Hoquiam, Gallery Marjuli, Caffe Amici and Coldwell Banker in Ocean Shores and by appointment at her studio in rural hoquiam.
